CLAN was founded in 1983 by a group of patients, health professionals and family members who were determined to improve cancer support services across Aberdeen and the north-east of Scotland. In September 2013 CLAN marked three decades of cancer support with a programme of events to celebrate this major milestone. CLAN has grown significantly over this time but retaining our warm welcome is central to everything we do.
Today CLAN has more than:
60 staff and a further 50 therapists and counsellors who help to deliver a wide range of support services.
is supported by more than 300 volunteers undertaking a variety of roles.
operates across a network of community based wellbeing centres and outreach bases – Aberdeen, Alford, Ballater, Banchory, Buckie, Crimond, Elgin, Forres, Inverurie, Kirkwall, Lerwick, Lossiemouth and Turriff.
is committed to raising more than £2m every year with the generous support of many individuals, families, organisations and whole communities.
